Because that is what Sky have decided you can have. It’s their app & their service.

Sky changed the agreement with VM so they only allow one remote connection at a time via the Sky Sports app.
If your query relates to TV boxes then the Sky Sports should be available on each box, so you may need to go into settings and search for missing channels.
I'm not sure how to do that on the old TIVO boxes but it should be similair to the following which works on V6 boxes - using your remote go to
Help & Settings > Help > Virgin TV > then go up to the top of the screen, then TV Care and press OK > Missing Channels.? > Refresh my channels list
