Unable to access Virgin TVGo on a Mac

1malcolmgeorge
Dialled in

I am a new TV customer and drying to set up TV Go on my Mac.

I have signed in to Virgin Media and then to Manage my devices and keep getting this problem page

The connection has timed out

An error occurred during a connection to manage-virgintvgo.virginmedia.com.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Have tried several time over a number of hours but always the same.

Any suggestions please??

Hi @1malcolmgeorge

Try using http instead of https

Any issues try an incognito window (this nearly always works), or clear your cookies, or use a different browser.

Browsers to use on a MAC

  • Safari 9+(macOS only)**

**To use Virgin TV Go with Safari 11 or earlier you'll need to install Microsoft Silverlight. Virgin TV Go is not currently compatible with Safari 12. To use Virgin TV Go on macOS with Safari 12 installed, you'll need to use an alternate browser such as Firefox or Chrome.

Thanks for response. For different reasons, I am already using Firefox so I will try incognito and your suggestions. Hope it works

This would appear to be a problem with Firefox..... Can set up TV Go with Safari but for other reasons I do not want to use Safari as default browser. Chrome does not recognise my printer. Any other suggestions

Hi 1malcolmgeorge,

Thanks once again for your post.

Just to follow on from newappollo's message, when using Incognito mode, you would need to register your browser each time you use TV Go, so that is not a permanent solution.

Can you come back and give us the version of the Firefox browser you are using please?

Many thanks,

Using Firefox Version 106.0.5 (64-bit) on a Imac 21.5 late 2013 macOS High Sierra 10.13.6   all worked fine with hub 3 which I have just sent back

Hi 1malcolmgeorge, thanks for getting back to us.

Sorry to hear you're still unable to use TV Go via Firefox.  Have you checked the settings and extensions on your Firefox?  It may be that one of the security settings/extensions on there is preventing TV Go from working?

Regards

Lee thanks for your reply,,, it might well be something to do with Firefox.... Just tried to sign in to itvx (new streaming service) and again cannot connect via firfox but can via safari    unfortunately safari is nor suitable for other reasons

Thank you for your reply.

Have you been able to take a look at the settings on Firefox?

Have any of them been amended at all?
