Has this been resolved?
I have the same problem. Just renewed my contract and the TV control app has stopped working with the same error as the OP.

The app should now work as both iPad and iPhone apps have been updated.

I tried that on the day but it didn't make any difference, so I waited a couple of days and tried again, seems to be working now. I guess something hadn't updated when my contract renewed.
