New V6 box installed now unable to stream from TV Control App

Hi, I had a new V6 box installed and am now unable to stream tv programmes via the TV Control app (used it a lot with previous box with no issues) onto either my iPhone or IPad. The error message shown is “Cannot Stream There was a problem streaming this programme. Please check your network and try again”

I can view live TV via the TV to Go app. I have checked that the app is in my iPad local network privacy settings and is toggled on. Also all devices are connected to the same network. Hope someone can help. Thanks

Not all channels allow in-home streaming, is this happening on any specific programme/channel?

Can you set & manage recordings ok? This should prove the connectivity aspect.

Hi, I only record and stream from the basic channels (BBC, ITV, STV, Channel 4 & Channel 5) these were the channels I used with my previous box with no issues. Yes, I can set and manage recordings okay. Thanks for your help.

I have also reset my wi-if and the V6 box and deleted and re-installed the TV Control app

Hi CatDancing,

Does the new box you had installed still have the same interface, or is it one of the new TV360 boxes which looks the same as a V6?

If it's the new 360 box then it doesn't work with the TV Control app. You need to use the Virgin TV Go app instead. You can manage your recordings, and stream live TV and on demand content, also Sky Cinema using TV GO

I'm very sorry to hear about the issue you've been having with Tv Control App. 

 

I have taken a look on our side and it looks as though you spoken with one of our agents and this this been resolved. Is that correct?

Hi, Yes, I spoke to one of your team but unfortunately the issue remains unresolved. I was told my TV Control App required an update but I have the most up to date version so this advice did not help.

We do wish to help with this. To confirm have you been able to try the app on alternative devices to see if this helps?

Hi Martin, Yes, I’ve tried on both my iPhone and my iPad, the issue is on both devices
