Names and descriptions(!) of porn websites and explicit images are still visible in searches even with parental controls on.
My savvy teenager can easily undo any filters at browser level - it’s not difficult. (And I shouldn’t have to filter at this level - Virgin’s controls should surely do this?)
I want him to access the internet safety and independently.
Any ideas before we change to Sky (which I’ve heard does the job properly in terms of parental controls)

Use the parental control provided by your device's operating system, for instance:
FYI: most popular search engines provide a safe search version of their site that does its best to block explicit content and whilst Sky's Broadband Shield forces use of the safe search version Virgin Media's Web Safe does not; in this case it will have to be manually enforced, for example with Google see Filter explicit results using SafeSearch - Computer - Google Search Help

Thank you for replying.
Such a shame Virgin don’t do the job properly with their controls.
Filters on Google can just be toggled off by the user (i.e my teenager!) and not locked so that’s not good enough for us.
We already have controls in place on Apple devices and until now have only allowed certain websites (Google not being one of them) but I want him to freely Google information without seeing explicit images.
I can’t believe it’s this difficult to achieve in this day and age!
Thanks anyway

Hello vicmar.
Thanks for your first post and welcome to our Community.
Sorry to hear you are having an issue the parental controls not working correctly.
I'd like to take a look into this for you.
If you don't mind, I will need to send you a private message to pass security.
If you can check the purple envelope top right of your screen that would be great.
Regards

Because it can't be done properly.
Like letting your teen go out in the world and a cars breaks their leg do you blame the driver or the one who passed the driver for their test for being allowed on the road?
