My Child Safety settings are not being applied.

I regularly provide respite foster care for a teenager and when he stays with us I always apply the child safety settings. However yesterday and today they are not working. I have tried turning them off and then turning them back on (and hitting "apply" each time) but nothing seems to work. Can anyone suggest what might be going on and what I might be able to do about it?

Hi,

have you restated the VM hub after applying the changes?  These settings work via the VM DNS servers, so have you checked your devices are using the VM DNS servers?  Any alternative DNS settings or a VPN will bypass the safety filters, which many teenagers know, so you may be wasting your time.

Re: My Child Safety settings are not being applied.

Afternoon @Mbarryuk

Welcome to our community and thanks so much for  your first post - I was sorry to understand that you've had some issues with your child safe over the last couple of days.

I have located your account from your forum information and can see it has been over 30 days since you last rebooted your hub; can you please try a reboot as our VIP @SCA1972 advised in their reply and let us know how you get on?

Other than that, all is looking as it should be from here with your signal levels and settings...

Keep us posted and we can chat again if needed.

Re: My Child Safety settings are not being applied.

Hi Katie,

I did as you suggested and rebooted the home and now I have a slightly different problem. On my Mac computer, pornographic sites are still not blocked. But the sites are blocked on all the other devices in our home including mobile phones and the TV (which is the main concern in our household). So it would appear there is something in my personal apple computer that is overriding the Internet Safety settings. I don't know how that could be possible as my computer is on the same network as all the others devices, but that is what I'm seeing at the moment. Have you ever seen this situation before?

Re: My Child Safety settings are not being applied.

As I mentioned in my previous post, any alternative DNS settings or a VPN will bypass the safety filters.

I'd check that the Mac is using the VM DNS or see if it has some privacy or security software installed that might be bypassing the VM DNS.
