Re: How do I block adult content on broadband?

The VM solution is Child Safe:

https://www.virginmedia.com/help/child-safe

This should be enabled by default on all new connections.

That solution is not fool proof and is easily bypassed by using alternative DNS settings on a device.  For a more robust solution I'd suggest looking at the settings on the devices you use for options to block adult content, or invest in a third party router and put the hub in modem mode.

A quick Google search brings up these lists of best parental control routers:

If you have a Windows platform, then a Hosts file when installed will block all Porn and most dodgy sites

Re: How do I block adult content on broadband?

a determined teenager with tech savvy friends will bypass whatever you put in place. its so easy...

having said that, a free open DNS account, with their DNS set in each device ( because you cannot change the HUB settings) is very good.

you can customize what it blocks. I use it to block clickbait: taboola, outbrain etc.. Google it.

it would works at your home though, as you can only filter  one IP address for free, but it does work for all configured devices on your home wifi, even phones, tablets

product names  OPENDNS family Shield [ pre configured for porn] , OPENDNS Home [ customizable]

PS if you use virigin Hub in modem mode, with your own router, you have more control, more options. you can password protect access to the DNS setting on your own router. the bypass is then to use mobile data [ which every teenager knows ]
