Hi the Xbox players in this house keep complaining that there Xbox keeps disconnecting and has done so for the past few days, have tried to put the two Xbox on the five ghz, and the rest of the devices in the house on the two ghz. But not sure what speeds I should be getting I am on the m200 fibre package. i did speed test on my pc ( shown below)
I am really getting fed up now with the arguments over the internet speed etc,
I have two xbox's which my two sons are on now at the moment quite abit, there are also two pc, but mine is rarely used, and phones, i have put all the other devices on the 2.4 ghz whatever it is and the two xbox on the five
Firstly you have to determine whether you have a WAN problem or a Wi-Fi problem.
What speeds do you get at >> SamKnows << with a direct connection using a Cat 5E or better ethernet cable between the Hub in Router Mode and a 1Gbs capable Pc/Mac/Chromebook and no other devices connected ?
Then immediately after …
Can you Login to the Hub Settings and navigate to the Connected Devices page - what is the reported 'connection speed’ for the ethernet cable connected device you used for the speed test ?
If possible can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you should post the link straight away.
Please post a 'Live Link' to your BQM on here straight away.
Instructions for posting BQM Live Link
Under your BQM graph are two links in red.
Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.
Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.
On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)
In the URL box paste the link you copied and in the ‘text to display’ box write My BQM then click OK - you can post the link straight away.
i only have one thing connected to the router by ethernet and that's the tv box, all the rest in the house are connected by wi- fi,
My son was thinking may be better if he gets his own internet line if you get what i mean, and have his stuff then on the separate internet! Not sure if you can do that with virgin, have put question up somewhere to see, but if not he could use another isp i think? Would save a lot of stress lol
