upload speed is terrible NE5

hello all

i have been in touch with virgin media yesturday and i was fobbed off with we dont guarantee the upload speeds, after a while i lost the plot and they put me through to virgin media retention they knocked my bill down month by a tenner and said they would contact me today about my upload speed which i dont believe them at all, my download speed is fine but my upload is 7 mega, i asked for an engineer to come out but they refused

Hello

Overall your stats are all within the specs, looking at the logs and there seems to be a few T3 timeouts that seem to be happening every couple of days, by themseleves they would be of no concern but with slow speeds that is a concern.

One think I would do would be to go around and check that all coaxial connections to all VM equipment are finger tight, once that is done power off the hub for 30 secs and then back on. Retest the speeds with speedtest.net.

hello 

yes ive done all that, this has only happened since new year really, ive never really had a cause to complain never had any problems at all really, i bought a server and with the upload speed well its not good you know, ive had the hub 3 for about 3 years

hello mike

ive just had a look outside at the virgin media box and theres wires cut in fact the box is just about hanging off the wall, dont know if the wires being cut would do anything considering my download speed is fine

Hello

The cut wires will be for a phone line if you are still on copper connection as the broadband line is a single coaxial cable, those wires would not affect your upload.

Hello

One thing I would recommend is too set up a BQM from https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality this will monitor you connection and will show up things like bad latency / downtime.

yeah your on the same as me, 350 download and 35 upload but not getting it 🙂  the wires cut i think they were for upstairs, i had 2 connections but i only use the one downstairs
