upgrade to 1gb v4 modem, speed worse

Check out my Speedtest result! How fast is your internet? https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/8573604680

Saturday got the new modem/router delivered. Had to call support services to resend activation.

Since then the speed hasn't been any better than the above. The v3 on 500mb was actually close to advertised speed so despite leaving it for a couple of days the speed hasn't increased.

150 time?

TIA.

Sean

Is that on wifi or an ethernet cable connected device?

Wifi will never get above ~600 on a wifi5 Hub like the Hub4.  so test it on an ethernet cable connection if you havent.

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

That was a quick check through wifi

Wired 1gb lan is giving 370mbs

Can you connect and test speed this way
___________________________________

Connect a 1GB enabled computer/laptop, with up to date drivers, via a NEW and working Cat5e/6a ethernet cable, directly to the Hub which you have put into “modem mode” (https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-hub-modem-mode ).

This ensures that NO other devices are connected

Test speeds at https://speedtest.samknows.com/ - try on 2 different browsers.

If they are still low – boot your device into Windows safe+networking mode - to disable any potentially interfering software - and try again.

There are many posts on here (I have a list of ~30!) where QoS software, unknown/flaky software, old network card drivers, corrupted browsers, bad cables or other connected devices are limiting speeds on tests.

Report back what that gets. A couple of examples why... see message 9 in the first thread and… 3 in the second

had this "upgrade" too, constant lag/loss and about 10mb download 😂

A quick adjust, I pulled the wifi booster and it went up to 450mbs

Sorry for late reply, got laid out with covid19.

Ok so wired direct as in #4 i got 850mbs.

Something seemed to change during my timeout. I downloaded a file yesterday and the speed was consistant at 95MB/s dont think im gonna improve on that.

Either some work was done at the cabinet, maybe some housekeeping.. or the hub was doing some connection voodoo and fine tuned itself.

Sorry for the missdirection

Hi kountzero,

Thank you for posting and updating the thread.

I am very sorry for any issues you are facing with your service.

I have taken a look from our side and can see the device may be running slightly out of specification but also that the equipment has been powered up for quite a while. With this being the case, can you please reboot the Hub at the main socket and let us know once it is complete? We will then check the Hub data again.

Thanks,

Nat
