slow speed

Recently bought the M200 fibre broadband bundle and installed it at home. on the website it says it is for 10+ devices and at any one stage we only have 8 devices. 2 of us game regularly and experience ping issues and lag all the time. we all also experience the wifi being very slow whilst trying to stream 1 movie (that we watched together and turned off all other devices), or even just a youtube video. i have looked online and many sites say that the speed that it promises should be very good however thats not what we are experiencing, any help would be great but it would be ideal to speak to somebody on the phone about it. (we have tried making sure that its not obstructed and the lights are on and all of the other troubleshooting tips on the website)

Re: slow speed

Welcome to the Trials & Tribulations of Wi-Fi

The problem with Wi-Fi is that it can be brilliant at breakfast time and useless by lunchtime and you haven't changed anything, BUT, something, somewhere has changed, then you can spend hours and even days trying to find a fix for something that can be totally out of your control.

If you remove all the internal walls, electronic and electrical devices, metallic pipes and conduits and wrap the whole building in a thick lead shield you will have a good chance of getting decent Wi-Fi from a VM Hub.

Many people have accepted that the VM Wi-Fi is poor and have purchased third party equipment that is much, much more powerful than the VM supplied kit and once set up have wondered why they waited for so long.

Re: slow speed

what speed do you get to wired devices is the 1st question - that needs to be tested on a device with a 1gig lan card using a cat5e lan cable or better - not on a console

wifi is not guaranteed but you should split the wifi bands and turn off smart wifi

log into hub3 - 192.168.0.1 [or 192.168.100.1 if in modem mode] - DON'T SIGN IN, click - click router status [centre of screen] - and post the downstream and upstream figures - to see those press on the grey buttons/boxes labelled - upstream - downstream

also set up a bqm graph

1st thing is to check the line input is ok - you can add anything you want and if the fault is at VM's side nothing will change so post the stats i asked for above and confirm how you are testing wired or wifi
