slow download speed

Hi,

I'm a new customer with the 100mbps package, I am getting download speeds fluctuating  between 5mb and 1mb, this is slower than expected.

 

Can anyone help with anything that I can do??

Which Hub do you have ?

What speeds do you get at >> speedtest.net << with a direct connection using a Cat 5E or better cable between the Hub in Router Mode and a 1Gbs capable Pc/Mac/Chromebook and no other devices connected ?

19.06mbps but I am paying for 100mbps

Have you got a different ethernet cable you can test with.

Or do I need to contact virgin ?

Give a reset a go.

DO NOT DO THIS if the password on the base of the Hub is not legible or missing.

Disconnect all unneeded ethernet cables from the rear of the Hub.

With the Hub Powered on use a paperclip or similar (I use a mobile phone SIM Slot tool) and do a pinhole reset.

Depress the pinhole switch for a timed 60 seconds then release.

DO NOT reboot the hub but allow it 5 to 10 minutes for it to boot itself up.

Once a steady white and no other lights are illuminated check your system again.
