(Yawn) this is soooo slooow

This is weird. I was happily getting 80MBPS on the vivid 100 package but decided that for an extra £1 I would upgrade to vivid 200. The speed went down!!! I was getting typically then about 30-50MBPS. I talked with the tec guys and then customer services who took me through the problem and provided me with a Cat 6 ethernet cable and then offered me a deal on Vivid 350 with a new V3 router. Guess what? The speed went down again. My setup is a laptop with ethernet straight into the router and the test was carried out with speedtest.net with no wifi devices (the router was new so not set up at the time) and with VPN uninstalled (not just disconnected). So now I'm left paying more money for a slower service - any ideas guys?

So existing customers that don't upgrade get better speed?

Maybe see what you get in modem mode.

Re: (Yawn) this is soooo slooow

Well you should be getting around 100 on the 100 package as it's over provisioned - 107 is the usual I think

so seems to be your end

Sounds like your laptop ethernet is connected at 100 rather than 1000 Mb/s

You need a Gigabit card (10/100/1000) in your laptop to get speeds over 100Mbs if your card is only 10/100 then you are limited to speeds of less than 100Mbs

Re: (Yawn) this is soooo slooow

The please go to http://192.168.0.1/ and then click "Check router status" at the bottom - choose "Congifuration" and tell us please what the Primary Downstream Service Flow's Max Traffic Rate is? I am not sure what it will be for 200mbps but I think around the 2200000000 mark?
