Wired is no good, wifi is fine

Hi there. I am in the Stourbridge area, West Mids.

Have 1g speed from Virgin. This morning I have 0.4dl and less on upload. I am in modem modem connected to Orbi 50 mesh. Usually get 700/800 dl and 50 up.

PC and voip are connected by Ethernet.

When I go wireless I get 100mb and full on 50up.so it is usable.

Any ideas why wired is like this, more like my problem than virgin if wireless is "Ok"?

any advice is appreciated.

First thing first, have you restarted everything?

If so, if you put the Virgin box back to router mode and connect direct to it over ethernet, do you still get the same speeds? That will tell you who/what is at fault.

Re: Wired is no good, wifi is fine

thanks for that. Yes done the restart twice, no difference.

Cant change it from Modem to router at present as working remote desktop with work.

Logic (my logic...) says it is not virgin (as I get wireless) so I checked my orbi mesh logs and saw many DOS attacks/scans. Not sure if they are real as they are from Amazon etc.

I reckon I should get this over to the Orbi forum!.
