Vivid 350mbs and superhub 2ac

Vm have upgraded me free to vivid 350mbs and are sending a superhub 3 to replace my superhub 2ac.

Having read the many poor reviews and ongoing performance issues with the hub 3 i want to keep using my hub 2 but i realise i will not benefit from the increased speed but will the hub 2 still operate ok while i wait for a superhub 4 in the hoping near future?

Re: Vivid 350mbs and superhub 2ac

I'm sure an expert will correct me if I'm wrong but I think the SH2ac is effectively maxed out at 200 mbps because it may theoretically be capable of more but VM won't provide a config file beyond that limit.

correct. The SH3 can bond more channels so can support higher speeds. VM will not (and can not) run over 200mbps on the SH2

I do not work for VM. The advice I give is based on my best understanding of VM policy and practice. You rely on it at your own risk.

Re: Vivid 350mbs and superhub 2ac

I think there is a more fundamental issue here.

Once you have the code for the 350Mb service on your account, you must install the Hub 3.0, I believe.

Re: Vivid 350mbs and superhub 2ac

But will the superhub 2 still function although not offering vivid 350 speed?

I would think not because if you are signed up for 350 VM will try to send to a 350 config file that the SH2 will not accept ... so no connection.

Re: Vivid 350mbs and superhub 2ac

You should call up and cancel the upgrade so that your bill doesnt go up and they will send out a free returns label for the Hub3. That's what I did a year or two anyway. If it aint broke don't try and fix it.

Re: Vivid 350mbs and superhub 2ac

afaik if you dont do the change over and leave the SH2 connected nothing will change - they cannot send the config file to the SH2 - well they can but it will reject it

if you have no intention of connecting the hub3 then give retentions a ring and ask for return packaging - also check they have not charged you £20 activation fee

dial 150 or 0345 454 1111 and follow the prompts to - 'thinking of leaving us' - then "technical issues" - dont worry about that they do much more - open 8am -10pm 7 days a week - should take you to a UK call centre
