Virgin Mediocre

Hi All,

So one week in and I can't believe how turgid VM are I'm paying for the 200mbps service; its a total joke more like 35mbps.

I've enclosed some speed tests and a report as to the garbage I'm experiencing.  How do I go about claiming for the minimum speed guarantee?  At this rate I'm hoping it should cost me nothing for the year and I can go back to some like BT.

Assuming they even look at the reports and take any complaints seriously?

how are you testing wired or wifi you need to test wired using a cat5e cable or better to a pc with a gigabit network card

log into hub3 - 192.168.0.1 [or 192.168.100.1 if in modem mode] - DON'T SIGN IN, click - click router status [centre of screen] - and post the downstream and upstream figures - to see those press on the grey buttons/boxes labeled - upstream - downstream

if its an earlier hub button is top right

Both.  Not expecting 200mbps via wifi albeit had it a couple of times, I'd be happy with half that via an ethernet as my computer doesn't have a gigabit network card.

Hi Zak,

please find an attached WiFi speedtest this is indicative of the poor service I receive on fixed and wireless. 

Ive had speeds up to 200mbps (via WiFi) but this is the exception not the norm. The norm is 50mbps and lower again on WiFi.

Fixed is the same.  I’ve been sent a new router as a solution which is a nonsense.  My line has an issue or is being throttled and well below the minimum speed guarantee

What device are you measuring from ?

Does the device have a Gigabit enabled Network Interface Card (NIC) with up to date drivers ?

Measuring from an iPhone 8 and MacBook. 

All up to date and patched.

The issue isn’t the hardware but the crap service, I’ve seen 200mbps but fleetingly the norm is a quarter of the speed I’m paying for stood over the crap virgin hub3.

The line is being throttled, I can see this given the time of day I perform the scans and frequency
