Virgin Media - Servers?

Hi

You recommend using Speedtest.net to check our speeds but they no long host Virgin. Now I get a big list to choose from. They all vary! the default one that come up is In-Touch Systems, Norwich. I am getting less than 300mbit/sec DL & 15mbit/sec upload.

I am paying for 600mbit/sec.

What is going on? What speed test program shows Virgin media servers?

Hi Mick W.

You should be using https://speedtest.samknows.com/  now.

Re: Virgin Media - Servers?

Should be a SamKnows speed test function in the hub's latest firmware of all Hub 3 and 4's.  I can't tell you where because my hub is in modem mode, so I can't access it.

An alternative and usually reliable speed test is fast.com

Re: Virgin Media - Servers?

Hi Wids001,

Thanks for getting in touch with us here on the Community.

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the service. Can you please confirm if the speed tests are being conducted on a wired or wireless connection?

Are you having problems in specific rooms within your home?

Thanks

Re: Virgin Media - Servers?

Hi

I have a wired connection to my Desktop which is no more than 500mm from the router.

I am using "Samknows" as my speed test program and this morning DL speed was 658mb/sec & UL 47mb/sec. However PING was 17 and this continues to be high.

I have been checking the speed 3 times a day over the last few days and it is between 550-650mb/sec which seems to have stabilised now.

Re: Virgin Media - Servers?

Ookla VM servers are no longer visible for me too.

Not that I use it much but I do sometimes utilise the function from within my router.

I still use dslreports.

Re: Virgin Media - Servers?

Thanks for the update Wids001 and glad to hear the speeds have now stabalised for you.

In regards to the ping being 17ms, this isn't high it's quite standard for pings to be between 10 and 20ms.
