Very very slow wi fi in a few rooms

Hi - I have a hub 3 and 300mb package. I have a lot of devices - iPhones, a few laptops, Sonos, nest cams and nest thermo. That’s the reason I got 300mb

hub is spaced out fine in the lounge and speeds close to hub are rapid - 150-200mb usually in testing. When I get upstairs, one room is dreadful (0.5 - 7mb usually) and in the kitchen downstairs under 10mb when I head to far end. I have three tp link wi fi extenders as well.

don’t know what else to try. I have tried switching off some devices already, I’ve phone VM and had them auto ping the wi fi and I’ve re set the hub numerous times. I’ve been with VM for about 2 months and any device a distance from the hub is pretty much unusable.

Any suggestions what I do next please?

Re: Very very slow wi fi in a few rooms

If the wifi connections close to the Hub are fine and If it is a wifi only issue (are ethernet cable connections good?), then on a Hub3, try separating the SSID's of the 2.4 and 5 GHz wifi bands by renaming them in the settings and at the same time switch off "channel optimisation" apply and save the settings. All wifi devices will need reconnecting to the best SSID at each location. Also use a wifi scanning App to find the best wifi channels to use (just select and use channels 1,6,11 on 2.4GHz) - this often helps Hub3 users get better wifi performance - but its still no substitute for getting better kit 🙂

To address the wifi, VM now supply “wifi Pods” (not “boosters”). Pods are free to “some customers” but most will be charged £5/month and right now they dont have enough supplies to provide them - unless you have a demonstrable wifi issue.

And at that level of investment you would soon pay off that cost by buying a "better" wireless solution that will be yours to own and use forever and which will cure all your wifi problems. I did that ~20 years ago and have never had a wifi related issue

Thanks for the reply. I’ve already split the frequency (should have mentioned that). I’m guessing on the wi fi solution you mean something like a mesh wi fi solution?
