Very slow download speed after upgrade to 500Mbs

Just upgraded from 200mbs to 500Mbs. Was getting around 130mbs previously. Now getting max around 20-30 download with upload speeds above 30. Ping is 8ms which is incredible!!  
cannot understand how I can have such low latency, such fast upload and such atrocious download. 
test is via wired Ethernet. Cat 5 cable, yes I know this is limited to 100mbs but I am getting nothing close. WiFi connection is slower on iPhone 11.

the router was upgraded from hub 2 to hub 3  

have checked all wiring and it is tight. Even checked the wiring in the wall box in case it was loose  

have hard reset router twice with pin. 60 seconds holding down button. This improves it marginally from nothing at all to the speeds above.  


interestingly the virgin recommended speed checker does not identify the hub as being a virgin hub which concerns me

Your images won't show until they have been checked that they don't contain personal info

Login to your Hub in router mode http://192.168.0.1/  if in modem mode switch to router mode temporarily

click on Connected devices to see what speed you are connected to your Hub

To determine if you have a fast connection speed to your Hub

Your images are showing now, and it would seem that you only have two upstream channels instead of four

It's better to highlight and then copy and paste results into the message as images will take longer to show

checked connectionand have 1gb connection from ethernet

It indicates that something is amiss somewhere.

You could try a reboot of your Hub to see if it picks up a better config

You could try login to https://my.virginmedia.com/home/index#. 

And run the Broadband test to see if it determines a fault and fixes it
