VM Gig1 slow speed w/ hub5

Always get sub 200Mbps speeds using samknows test to virgin hub5!

Desktop connect via ethernet cat5e, when it was first Installed we had speeds over 1100mbps which was great but after a few weeks (from August 22) we get nothing more than 200-300.

Had an engineer out who replaced our hub4, outside wall connector, inside house connect, splitter, ethernet cables and also installed our supply on tap1 in the distribution box and yet VM "fix your broadband" states everyday there is a connection issue in our area and our speed never surpasses 200Mbps?!

I'm at my wit's end with virgin, I've complained several times who then "educate my" on WiFi...but I'm not using WiFi and that its all my fault and it's nothing to do with their network.

I've got letters, screenshots, speed tests and broadband quality monitor data that literally shows massive spikes in latency and lost packets. I've tried phoning, emailing and complaining to get absolutely nowhere with them!

What do I do next? I just don't know what to do

Try installing a mesh WiFi setup.

Why install a mesh?

They're not even getting full speed to their hub.

I would wait until a forum mod replies op, they're pretty good at giving info on local faults. It sounds like your problem is VM's. You should seek recompense.

Not sure if it's anything to do with all the errors in my downstream?

speed getting even worse, unreliable connection. No help from customer support they just stick to a script and blame "WiFi signal" even though I'm not using WiFi... Not worth the money

Won't let me book an engineer, literally tells me everyday to wait 24 hours and come back.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your internet speeds. I'm happy to take a look in to things but I've been unable to locate you on our systems using your forum credentials. I will need to confirm some information with you in order for me to proceed with checks.

Can you do a pure" speedtest first to determine what speed VM are delivering to your Hub
_________________________________________________________________________

As you expect >100Mbps then Connect a 1GB enabled computer/laptop, with up to date drivers, via a NEW and working Cat5e/6a ethernet cable, directly to the Hub which you have put into “modem mode” (https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-hub-modem-mode ). This ensures that NO other devices are connected

Test speeds at https://speedtest.samknows.com/ - or https://www.speedtest.net/ - try on 2 different browsers - as Chrome sometimes gives odd results.

If they are still low – boot your device into Windows safe+networking mode - to disable any potentially interfering software - and try again.
There are many posts on here (I have a list of ~30!) where QoS software, anti-virus, unknown/flaky software, old network card drivers, corrupted browsers, bad cables or other connected devices are limiting speeds on tests.

Report back what that gets. For examples of why... see message 7 in the first thread and 9 in in the second and 3 in the third
