Re: V.VIP 500mbps upload SLOW (550d 7up !!)

Those stats look almost perfect. Nothing in there that would suggest problems.

How are you connected (separate router, wired) and what device is being used to test?

It would be worth setting up a Thinkbroadband Quality monitor if you haven't got one already.

Does the upload speed vary with time of day?
Are you sure something on your network isn't hogging upstream bandwidth?

I've found cloud based services can have quite an impact even on 37Mb/s upstream connections.

Re: V.VIP 500mbps upload SLOW (550d 7up !!)

1st thing in the morning (say 6am to 8am) I do get a good upload, it just goes downhill from there (I am hardwired directly into the Hub 3) using a desktop i9 gaming PC so it must be something on the Virgin network that is causing it but the download is perfect ??

Re: V.VIP 500mbps upload SLOW (550d 7up !!)

Does sound like upstream congestion.

With many people working from home I have seen my upstream drop a little from the previously steady 37Mb/s. It can drop as low as 30Mb/s around 10am and 4pm.

My downstream has always been more congested with typical rates dropping to 300Mb/s (from 500) during the day.

It would be worth setting up that Thinkbroadband Quality Monitor. It might show the congestion.
Maybe you'll get a kind VM person on here providing some investigation for you.

Re: V.VIP 500mbps upload SLOW (550d 7up !!)

Thanks for the reply, I already have the think broadband monitor set up and have done for months:

https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality/share/2f81007a3f93ba2e63c791cb9bc2aece49...

I really use more upload speed (twitch, youtube, facebook live, wowza etc) then download and it's been over a year now waiting for a stable service, I really do not understand why Virgin do not have a package that is for priority uploading so unfortunately it looks like I will have to switch back to fibre as I can't work from home like this. It sucks as will have to switch not just broadband but TV and mobiles as well.

Re: V.VIP 500mbps upload SLOW (550d 7up !!)

Well a slight update, have to give credit where credit is due, my connection after the last engineering works (being cut off for the whole day) now means that my connection is %100 Rock solid !! it has NOT dropped of even gone anywhere below the minimum speed !!

So well done Virgin for finally replacing the hamsters that stopped running and fixing the issue, but unfortunately have already put in my notice for termination 😞 no need to leave now but would need to get in touch with retention department !
