Re: V.VIP 500mbps issue

The signal levels are fine, but you are only showing 13 download channels instead of 30, which would explain the low speed.

Did you cut off the bottom channels in the list when you copied and pasted them, or is that the actual number?

If there really are only 13 channels, try resetting the Hub with the reset button for 30 seconds. If that doesn't bring them all up, call it in as a fault on 150.

thanks for the reply, it looks like it is only enabled for 24:

Re: V.VIP 500mbps issue

I'm not familiar with the 500Mbit channels. It may be 24 - someone will pop up and confirm.

How is the speed now?

Re: V.VIP 500mbps issue

The hub 3.0 has a DOCSIS 3.0 modem which handles 24 downstream channels, more channels are only possible with 3.1.

Re: V.VIP 500mbps issue

The number of channels is governed by the Hub as the Hub 3 has a 24 channel downstream tuner (192Mhz), and 4 upstream channel tuner.(24MHz)
Asus do a 32 x 8 Cable Modem for use with American ISPs like Comcast and Xfinity.
There is no specification for the maximum amount of downstream channels in Docsis 3.0

Docsis 3.1 works differently, with one downstream channel utilising many OFDM sub carriers can be the same size as 24 Docsis 3.0 downstream channels.(192Mz)

The logs are showing a couple of periods, of noise on the downstream, but nothing to explain consistent failure to achieve headline speed.

I would start a Broadband Quality Monitor to get a more detailed picture on how your connection is performing.
I would also test with a PC in Safe Mode with Networking to help rule out anything running on your PC.

Re: V.VIP 500mbps issue

The OP originally showed only 13 channels. If that was correct and there are now 24 there may no longer be a problem.

We need an update.

Re: V.VIP 500mbps issue

Sorry but am not at home at the moment but will check when I get back in a hour, thanks for your advice, just was not sure if cable was similar to FTTC with a settling in period.
