Upload speeds in the KT6 area have been awful (1Mbps on a M200 package)

Since the New Year upload speeds in KT6 have been awful.  Tested multiple time per day and have been getting 1Mbps upload on the M200 package.  Heard from the local community that there are capacity issues in the area.  Really impacting one-line lessons for sons and home working.  Anyone know what's going on and when it'll be fixed?

I used the Virgin Media speed checker today on virginmedia.com without logging in to my account.  Speed was so slow it asked me if I wanted a speed boost my moving to Virgin Media 🙂 !!

Re: Upload speeds in the KT6 area have been awful (1Mbps on a M200 package)

Affecting whole area since last November but has gone further downhill since start of this year, both download and upload daily speeds appalling sub 1Mbps. So poor it cannot be used, affecting working from home and home schooling in whole area.
Virgin advised it is classed as an outage because of over utilisation issues and clearly they have a massive lack of capacity.
They advised it will be fixed on January 29th 2021 - I won't be holding my breath!!!!!

I've been monitoring it today.  Its really bad, with average & peak latency ramping up as soon as people working from home and children with live lessons log-on with a dip at lunchtime before it surges again!  Here's hoping for a fix by close of play tomorrow.  Sadly BT FTTP fibre isn't in out area yet.

Re: Upload speeds in the KT6 area have been awful (1Mbps on a M200 package)

Surprise surprise! The promised fix did not take place on 29th January.
So in our KT6 area we continue to endure between ~9am - ~ 6pm during core working/school hours Monday to Friday.
Daily drop outs in broadband = Total loss of service.
Appalling low bandwidth sub 1-2Mbps which is unusable = Effective total loss of service.

Two formal complaints raised - 28 day response SLA!

Next fix date advertised by Virgin Media is 12th February, again as before I won't be holding my breath.

Re: Upload speeds in the KT6 area have been awful (1Mbps on a M200 package)

I have same problem. Also KT6. Started November 2020. Dropping out totally/ extremely slow (0.2 to 2 Mbps!) during 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday. Told they are doing upgrade. Initial completion date 19th Jan, then 29th Jan now 12th Feb. Have raised two official complaints in writing. Getting close to the 28 days for a response. Will take to Ombudsman if I don’t get a satisfactory response.

Can everyone with the same problem please raise a complaint in writing and ask for compensation.

Re: Upload speeds in the KT6 area have been awful (1Mbps on a M200 package)

Facing similar issues in the same area and unable to work from home during the day. Awful upload speeds on a M350 package. The fact that I get near representative speeds out of hours shows that this is not a technical issue, just over utilisation of the network.

I believe there is a Facebook group where it has been discussed that there is supposed to be some sort of fix due around mid February.

Unfortunately Virgin are not being very transparent. That could go a long way to stop customers leaving.
