Upload speed now around 0.3Mbps

Hi,

Like so many before me, we have now had over a week of poor internet speed.  Download is ok (varies between 80 and 190Mbps), but upload is so slow that email attachments don't work anymore and video conferencing has to be done on a mobile.

I have done all the usual stuff - repowering the virgin box, resetting the VB to factory settings, I have changed the ethernet and coax cables.  All to no avail.

Here is the router log:

Pretty fed up with this and ready to look for another option if nobody from Virgin can help us here.

Re: Upload speed now around 0.3Mbps

Hello Tony, thanks for your quick reply,

I have TV coax 'spare', just trying out as many options as I could.  The replacement cable I put in is only about 50cm long.

I am happy to replace it with the original virgin cable.

I will do that now and re-post the virgin box report...

Re: Upload speed now around 0.3Mbps

as long as its a VM cable then it should be fine - changing the length may slightly change the levels but thats all

Re: Upload speed now around 0.3Mbps

Upload suddenly rocketed up to 75 and 0.1 for download. Everything dragging along so slowly that I can't open anything much apps wise, nor check my work or look in on my elderly family. 36 hours is the latest 'fix' time and this happened two weeks ago (it was in the National Papers). So it's really weird when customer services say it's only happening to a few people.

Re: Upload speed now around 0.3Mbps

Hi Tony,

I have had a few hours on the 'old' cable now, so speed test comes out as 101Mbps download, 0.15Mbps upload, so still not good  enough to attach email attachments.

The latest router stats are:

Re: Upload speed now around 0.3Mbps

Hi mpwandjbw

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. I am sorry for the lower than expected speeds. I've had a check on our systems and your area is affected by a SNR issue. (signal to noise ratio). The fault reference for your records is F008204680 and the estimated fix date the 17th July 2020.

Kind regards,
