Upload speed midday is abysmal

Hey guys, hoping someone can help

Been on the phone multiple times about my upload speeds only to be told to try using a cable, resetting my hub etc. nothing is working and that they can't do anything else to help.

I get good upload speeds apart from during the middle of the day which is when I need it the most.

Upgraded to M200 package in hopes of that helping but still exactly the same 1-2mbps upload.

Re: Upload speed midday is abysmal

What speed do you get on https://speedtest.samknows.com/ with direct wired connection from PC/Laptop to router using a Cat 5e cable or better with a 1Gbps capable Ethernet network card?

  1. Make sure the cable is Cat 5e or better
  2. Make sure your PC/laptop has a 1Gbps or better network card
  3. Make sure Hub is in router mode
  4. Disconnect all other Ethernet cables when running the test

Hiya thanks for replying,

On my wifi card (Broadcom 802.11ac Network adapter) I am getting:

Download 170Mbps

Upload 2.37Mbps

On CAT 6 cable provided by VM with HUB 3 I am getting:

Re: Upload speed midday is abysmal

I have M200 and the upload daytime does drop from 21 to 7 or even less at times. It was the reason I upgraded from M100.. that was like 3 up 😞 I have only seen full upload speed early morning or late evening.

But on the issues of Wi-Fi thats scary..its a waste you have M200 but relying on hub3 to manage it 😞

Can you please upload your router stats

Type 192.168.0.1 or (192.168.100.1 if you have your Hub in Modem mode) into your address bar at the top of your browser

For Hubs 2 & 3 - DO NOT LOG IN, just click “Check Router Status”

For Hub 4 - When the page appears LOG IN then click on:

Advanced Settings > Tools > Network Status.

Please copy and paste the contents of the Downstream, Upstream, Configuration and Network Log tabs, if you get a yellow warning just click the Post button again. You can use more than one post for each item if needed.

If you get a warning when you hit “Post” just hit “Post” again and it should work ok!

Please do not use screenshots

Also can you please setup a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com. Just click on Create a new monitor.

Post a 'Live Link' to your BQM on here asap.

Under your graph you just created Click (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box and paste it on here

Re: Upload speed midday is abysmal

Your download streams power levels are way too high.

Upstream bonded channels

Channel Frequency (Hz) Power (dBmV) Symbol Rate (ksps) Modulation Channel ID

16030000040.3512064 qam1
25370002440512032 qam2
34620012539512016 qam3
43939985338.5512016 qam4

Your upload streams should be all 64 QAM.

You will definitely need an engineer visit to put these right. Best to ring VM on or just after 8am or alternatively you can wait here for a Virgin staff member to pick it up, typically between 5-10 days, sometimes sooner, sometimes later depending on how busy they are.

If you want to wait for a Virgin staff member to pick it up, try not to bump the thread as this will throw you further down the list
