Upload speed has gone very slow

Hello,

We do livestreaming on Twitch with Virgin Media and we're on the 200mb package - normally the upload speed is a solid 20mb and does the job wonderfully but since yesterday it's been really bad for us. I was unable to stream much today as it tanked as low as 0.7mb according to speed tests at times, and its peaking at about 7mb at the moment.

I stream from my Ethernet connected PC normally without issue. Can anyone suggest anything?

Here's my info from Check Router Status:

Re: Upload speed has gone very slow

Something is impacting both your downstream and your upstream frequencies (the may or may not be related). The fault can either be in your home or outside.

Re: Upload speed has gone very slow

Three of your upstream channels have dropped from 64QAM to 16QAM.  This would certainly explain the drop in uplink speed.  Try rebooting your Hub. If this doesn't resolve itself fairly soon you will need to call it in as a fault.

Re: Upload speed has gone very slow

I did reboot a few times over the course of the day but those numbers have stayed low.

Thanks for your help. I'll see what it looks like tomorrow morning...

Re: Upload speed has gone very slow

Update: The modulation said 64qam this morning on all 4 channels, but as of 8pm tonight it's showing like this:

Upstream bonded channels

Channel Frequency (Hz) Power (dBmV) Symbol Rate (ksps) Modulation Channel ID

13940037041.3512016 qam2
22580008940.5512064 qam4
33260048941512016 qam3
44620002341512064 qam1

So it's sort of fluctuating as far as I can tell. Should I request an engineer?

Re: Upload speed has gone very slow

I would report it as a fault, if you can get through on the support line.

Tell them (if they can understand) that (1) the upstream modulation keeps changing and (2) that there is an 8dB variation between downstream channels. Both of these indicate something wrong very locally.

You might find better results if you wait for a VM person to see your post here.

Incidentally, do check that your local coax connections are still secure, as a loose connection indoors could produce these faults.

That's how things look tonight. If a VM person can advise I'd really appreciate it as its hitting our ability to do our livestreams which is an income source for us.

I've checked the connections, they are all finger-tight indoors here. I am in a flat so I have no idea what the outside situation looks like, wouldn't know what I was looking at.
