I have an M200 fibre broadband (200 Mbps download and 20Mbps upload) for few years.
Download speed are pretty stable, but upload speeds often drop, especially in the late afternoon/evening, to 1 or 2 Mbps. Even attaching a small document to an email would hang and often fail.
This is going on since at least 23/October (1.5 months).
I tested this from a wired connection. Virgin hub (v3.0) is on modem mode, by the way.
I have tried to reach the technical help desk but they said they see no issue on their side. I have also sent a more formal complaint two weeks ago, but received no reply.
What could be the reason for upload (but not the download) speed to drop? Could it be an area utilisation issue?
On the network log I see things like:
If relevant, the following info has been taken when the issue was NOT present (if it matters):
Upstream bonded channels
Channel Frequency (Hz) Power (dBmV) Symbol Rate (ksps) Modulation Channel ID
Channel Channel Type T1 Timeouts T2 Timeouts T3 Timeouts T4 Timeouts
I have also just set up a BQM:
Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Update: as expected it's now 16:30 and the speed has dropped (to 4Mbps, currenty).
I have noticed that the "qam" values have dropped from 64 to 16: is that relevant?
Can you paste the data from all the tabs please.
Your BQM is showing all red. Do you have a Router or Mesh System behind the VM Hub ?
Thanks for the reply. See all tabs below.
(And yes, I have an orbi router behind the virgin hub: I am looking into how to enable the BQM with that....)

On your Orbi you need to set it to respond to ICMP.
Two of your Upstream Channels are at 16 QAM, they should be 64 QAM. What causes this, I don't know. Hopefully your BQM will spread more light on the problem.

Ok, I have done that now. Thanks for your help.
PS: upload speed is now 0.35Mbps
It's now 8am, and as expected the upload speed is what is should be (20Mbps).
But it will drop again later in the afternoon.
This is what the BQM looks like: any ideas?
Your >> Live BQM << is showing a bit of latency but not really enough to be causing problems.
If your Upstream modulations are still showing some 16 QAM can you try a reboot using the following method...
Switch the Hub off using the small switch on the rear of the Hub next to the power cord and pull the PSU plug from the wall socket.
Give it a good 5 minutes put the plug back in and switch the Hub back on.
Allow the Hub a few minutes to fully restart then check the Upstream Modulations again.
