Upload speed constantly below half of what it should be

Hi,

We have the 200mbps package, which should result in about 20mbps upload, however we ver y rarely are seeing this, its normally <10mbps.

Is there a reason we might be seeing this? Is there an issue that I can't see?

Regards,

Re: Upload speed constantly below half of what it should be

Hi @MikeRobbo,

I should have stated, I'm connected via Ethernet cable and the download speed seems pretty solid around 200mbps (which is what i'd expect)

I've kept an eye on the speeds over the past week or so just in case it was a blip for a couple of days, but it seems pretty consistent with 200mbps down, <10mbps up

The area doesn't say there are any issues, and I can't remember what the signal level should be for upload (or the range). I once knew, but can't remember!

Re: Upload speed constantly below half of what it should be

Go round all the accessible co-ax connections and ensure that they are finger tight.

If everything above is OK we need do some troubleshooting; to start with …

Can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you can post the link straight away.

Post a link to your BQM on here.

Instructions for posting BQM Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and in the ‘text to display’ box write My BQM then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

Then

Can you please

Type 192.168.0.1 (192.168.100.1 in Modem mode) into your browser URL bar and press enter.

When the page appears DO NOT LOG IN but click ‘Check Router Status’.

Copy and paste the contents of the Downstream, Upstream and Network Log tabs onto here, if you get a yellow warning click the Post button again.

A Guru will be along soon to decipher the info.

@MikeRobbo,

Thanks for the info. I have tightened all the connections, but they all seemed fine.

Re: Upload speed constantly below half of what it should be

Hi wiggydave10

Thanks for posting. My apologies for the delayed reply and the lower than expected speeds.

I've ran a check on our system and can see there is a congestion issue in the area. F007940768 is the fault reference. The estimated fix date is the 30th September 2020.

Kind regards,

Re: Upload speed constantly below half of what it should be

Hi,

Is there any update on this. The issue still seems to remain and I find that sometimes the connection is a bit iffy.
I notice if I maybe uploading something or streaming something the upload rate drops below the set value, so looks and feels like there is still some issue.
