Upgraded to Gig1 Fibre - Latency Spikes/fluctuation in speed
a week ago
I've just upgraded from the 350mb internet package to the Gig1 Fibre and I've noticed I'm getting quite a lot of latency spikes/couple of random router restarts (which then resets the password on the router, and both the default (one printed on the bottom) and my set password won't work).
I've been reading a couple of posts and a few people have mentioned that in the network stats, you want a downstream power closest to 0 dBmV, but nothing over 10. All of mine are at about 11 - 12 dBmV (I can't screenshot/post right now as for some reason the status page has stopped loading!!!) On the cable coming in from the wall, there is already a 10db attenuator from when I first joined Virgin Media a few years ago (so I think when I had the original SuperHub 2 installed by the engineer, and then also when I had the Superhub 3). Could the "high" 12 dBmV on my downstream be an issue?
Here is a link to my TBB monitor (Live)
And a snapshot
If anyone can offer any help, or point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it!! 🙂 I'm using a Cat7 Ethernet cable (saw in some other threads people checking if they had a cat6+) so the connection between my PC and router should be fine!. 🙂

Thanks for posting and sorry to see you've been having some issues with your connection.
I've been able to locate your account using your forum details and can see you were able to get through to speak to an agent.
I have however run a check on your equipment and can see the hubs upstream and downstream power levels are out of specification. I've arranged for an engineer to come and take a closer look, you can view the time and date of your appointment via your online account here
