Upgraded from M100 to M200 and no better off

Hi, recently upgraded from M100 to M200 broadband and it appears that I'm getting only marginally better download speeds although upload speed is as advertised. Wired connection only. SH3 has been rebooted multiple times.

The VM Broadband test fails with Technical error !

Speedtest.net results: -You can see the change at date 22/1/2020 from M100 to M200. I think I should really be getting better D/L speed !

Type 192.168.0.1 into your browser URL bar and press enter.  When the page appears DO NOT LOG IN but click ‘Check Router Status’.

Copy and paste the contents of each tab onto here, a Guru will be along in the not too distant future to decipher the info.

Re: Upgraded from M100 to M200 and no better off

Sounds like a faulty cable connection.  Connect to the hub, click on "Check router status" and post the contents of the tabs titled Downstream, Upstream and Network log here (ideally as formatted text, not as an image).  Somebody will have a gander and see if there's obvious problems.

Re: Upgraded from M100 to M200 and no better off

A quicky - have you tried alternative browsers? There are lots of reports on here where some browsers can limit speeds.
In particular - Chrome - see this weeks example...

Re: Upgraded from M100 to M200 and no better off

The hub stats and log don't in your case tell us much useful, but I've a niggling suspicion about latency and error levels.  Is column 5 in your Speed test table a measure of latency?  Because if it is there's some anomalous results, in that I would expect a speed test latency (using default servers) of 6-11 ms, and if you're seeing values of 27, that seems odd to me.

Regarding the errors, the low numbers on for example channels 2, 3 and 5 suggest the hub's only been running for a day or so since the last restart?  If that is the case then the hundreds of errors on channels 17 and higher seem to indicate a problem of some sort.  To be clear, pre-RS errors are detected and corrected by the hub, but that adds latency and can still interrupt streaming or gaming if it is bad enough.  It is often the case that error levels rise at certain times of day - sometimes due to higher traffic levels, sometimes without obvious cause.

You might want to visit thinkbroadband.com, create an account, and setup a Broadband Quality Monitor, that'll give you a continuous monitor of latency and packet loss on your connection, and present the results in an easy to understand chart.  When that's run for 24 hours of more, post a link to it here and we can take a look and comment.

Of course, all this poking and guessing may be pointless if there's an area fault that's already being investigated.  Maybe one of the forum staff could comment?

My Broadband Ping - MarkG61

Same results with different browsers.

Thought I'd let the monitor run for a few days and an updated Download tab from the SuperHub 3

Re: Upgraded from M100 to M200 and no better off

Try it again this way and see what you get.
Use a new Cat6 ethernet cable (old ones do "fail" and Cat6 is best) to connect it directly to the Hub - which you have put into modem mode (to ensure only your device is connected) and boot up your computer/laptop into "safe mode with networking" (to disable any software on it that could be limiting speeds). Run the tests at speedtest.net (try on x2 VM servers) on 2 different browsers one of which is a fresh download of one you haven’t previously used (e.g. Firefox, Opera, Safari etc )- there are several reports on here of certain browsers causing speed issues).

Try that and report back
