Unable to stream on Twitch due to very bad upload speeds. Please Help

I have been trying to stream on twitch for the past week or so, and it just keeps buffering.. i have been doing speed tests every day and it spikes from 18 to 4mb... During my stream i can log my internet stats and i drop 65% of my frames. i should have 0.. Ive been on the virgin site, ran the test's and it says i have a problem in my area which has been like that for awhile now.. I would like some information...

Literally cant make a living atm because of virgins great service.. I would really appreciate if someone could give me info as to what to do cheers.

Have you checked the 'Check Service Status' at the top of the page ?

If nothing is showing try phoning 0800 561 0061, this will tell you of more local issues that may be affecting the area. Be aware that it isn't a manned line.

Go round all the accessible internal and external co-ax connections and ensure that they are finger tight.

If everything above is OK we need do some more troubleshooting; to start with …

 

Can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you should post the link straight away.

Post a link to your BQM on here.

Instructions for posting BQM Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and in the ‘text to display’ box write My BQM then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

Type 192.168.0.1 (192.168.100.1 in Modem mode) into your browser URL bar and press enter. 

Hub 2 & 3 When the page appears DO NOT LOG IN but click ‘Check Router Status’.

Hub 4 When the page appears LOG IN then click ‘Check Router Status’.

Copy and paste the contents of the Downstream, Upstream and Network Log tabs onto here, if you get a yellow warning click the Post button again. Use one post for each tab if you wish. Please do not use screen grabs.

A Guru will be along soon to decipher the info.

Thank you for getting back to me 🙂 I have done all the tips you have stated when i first started having the issues. I have also been doing the speed test on thinkbroadband.com and set up a monitor but i thought it was bugged because all i get is a massive red block all the time, i can send that across as well, please see the following info for downstream, upstream and network logs.

Your >> BQM << is showing all red, this normally means the Hub isn't responding to Ping or the monitor is corrupt. >> John Brennand << may be able to help with the ping.

Your Downstream Power Levels all look OK.

Out of your four Upstream Channels one is maxed out and one very close to max. These may need an engineer's intervention.

Thank you for your information, the problem im facing is i cant talk to anyone at VM because when i phone them and input my number i just get a standard message saying there is a problem, great stuff which i knew anyways lol. then when i try to book an engineer through the site i also just get a standard message saying they know about the problem in my area, so atm im just stuck not being able to stream at all. cant even talk to anyone to let them know about my issues. sad times. Anyways i appreciate you taking the time to help.

If there is an area problem you won't get a home visit until the problem is fixed.

You can either phone in (08:00 is the best time) or wait on here for a few days until one of the VM Forum Staff comes along.
