Terribly unstable ping - Gaming impossible....

Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone can help....

We upgraded to 1Gig but ever since the connection is worse than ever before,

I can be playing a game which should be 30-40 ping and it spikes to over 300...

How do VM think this is an appropriate service quality to be rolling out to customers?

No idea what to do..

Re: Terribly unstable ping - Gaming impossible....

On wifi or ethernet connections?

If wifi - test it on an ethernet cable connection and report back on how that performs

Re: Terribly unstable ping - Gaming impossible....

I have an XR500 + EX7700 setup and can assure you those are not the issue, worked perfectly fine until i upgraded to 1Gig.

I've been hearing a lot about the hub4 being unreliable?

The ping tests are on my IP from broadband monitor so nothing to do with the wifi, even off wifi the pings spike to ridiculous levels.

& from the graphs shown from the 3 previous days alone it looks to me like VM is doing some funky throttling or having severe network congestion at peak hours? either way the service is not what i'm paying for, it's worse than the 150mb i was getting before i upgraded and it's costing me more.

Re: Terribly unstable ping - Gaming impossible....

The SH4 is a little better than the SH3.

The SH3 had an issue with the internal chipset (intel Puma 6), its was not VM fault, but the way they handled the issue was a disgrace.

My SH4 is running fine in my area.

Running on 1Gbps VM service with SH4 in Modem Mode, with a ASUS RT-AC5300 router. With this setup I get Fantastic WIRED and WIRELESS Signals in my home. I dont work for VM. But I work in IT, and I know my tech.
My advice is at your own risk. If you are happy with my answers please press Kudo ?

Your BQM's are typical of overutilisation and if so you will have to wait for VM to add extra capacity.
