Temperamental internet and constant buffering

Currently on the 200Mbps package.

I seem to currently be having constant buffering issues while using streaming services (mostly an issue with youtube), and quite often my Virgin Hub (Hub 3.0) will randomly restart throughout the day, including when I'm trying to use the internet. Looking at the network status in my hub's settings, I seem to have a lot of errors. Below are the details I see from the Downstream bonded channels

Re: Temperamental internet and constant buffering

Your Pre & Post RS Error counts are very high.

In an ideal world they would be at zero and stay there. To zero them can you reboot the Hub using this method and then keep an eye on the counts.

Switch the Hub off using the small switch on the rear of the Hub next to the power cord and pull the PSU plug from the wall socket.

Give it a good 5 minutes put the plug back in and switch the Hub back on.

Allow the Hub a few minutes to fully restart then check the counts again in an hour or so.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Your Upstream Power Levels are maxed out.

This will need an engineer to put right.

You can either call in (08:00 is the best time) or wait on here for a few days (6 to 7 days average) until one of the VM Forum Staff comes along.

If you wait on here Do Not bump the thread it will put it further down the VM 'to do list'.

Re: Temperamental internet and constant buffering

Can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you should post the link straight away.

Post a 'Live Link' to your BQM on here.

Instructions for posting BQM Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and in the ‘text to display’ box write My BQM then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

Re: Temperamental internet and constant buffering

Set this up a little while ago, so it should already be live. Heres the link to it:

Re: Temperamental internet and constant buffering

Your BQM is indicating that you have quite a lot of latency, I don't know whether this is caused by you doing a lot of up / down loading or you are in a busy area.

I think that a working day displayed on the BQM will tell a more accurate story.
