Struggling with broadband connection

We have been plagued by endless connectivity issues with our Virgin Media broadband service. I don’t keep track but I would estimate we have to restart our router around 10-15 times per week just to try and keep things running the way we would expect; it’s unfortunate that, in many cases, this doesn’t resolve things.

We both work from home which requires a reliable, strong service as well as living in a modern household which contains many smart devices - all of which also require WiFi to work. As it stands, most of the time they’re rendered ‘dumb’ by the lack of coverage and strength in the broadband service you provide us.

Any advice other than stick a pin in the back of the router...!

Re: Struggling with broadband connection

i have never followed the logic of restarting the hub to improve things - but if it works for you who am i a to argue with the experts that are offshore

if the connection drops then that should be looked at - so the questions - is this a wifi problem only or do wired connections drop also - if you have no wired connections what do the lights on the hub do when the connection drops

add some info

log into hub3 - 192.168.0.1 [or 192.168.100.1 if in modem mode] - DON'T SIGN IN, click - click router status [centre of screen] - and post the downstream and upstream figures - to see those press on the grey buttons/boxes labelled - upstream - downstream

if its an earlier hub button is top right

Re: Struggling with broadband connection

the levels are fine - is this just a wifi problem or do wired connections drop - if you dont have anything wired what do the lights on the hub do when the connection drops

Re: Struggling with broadband connection

I have outages mainly on wifi - I am wired into my box on a day to day basis as the wifi isn't strong enough to support video calls - sometimes works.

Light on router is consistently amber
