Speeds not up to scratch

Hello,

I have an M100 account and for quite some weeks now, our download and upload speeds during working hours are not very good.

I have just run the speed test linked to on Virgin's help pages and these are my results. If someone could please offer some simple advice, or book an engineer visit it would be appreciated. I have done all of the usual things such as turning off and on again, unplugging and replugging, resetting the hub. This works temporarily but just gets worse again. Thank you in advance for any help provided.

Re: Speeds not up to scratch

Can you please upload your router stats

Type 192.168.0.1 or (192.168.100.1 if you have your Hub in Modem mode) into your address bar at the top of your browser

For Hubs 2 & 3 - DO NOT LOG IN, just click “Check Router Status”

For Hub 4 - When the page appears LOG IN then click on:

Advanced Settings > Tools > Network Status.

Please copy and paste the contents of the Downstream, Upstream, Configuration and Network Log tabs, if you get a yellow warning just click the Post button again. You can use more than one post for each item if needed.

If you get a warning when you hit “Post” just hit “Post” again and it should work ok!

Please do not use screenshots

Also can you please setup a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com. Just click on Create a new monitor.

Post a 'Live Link' to your BQM on here asap.

Under your graph you just created Click (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box and paste it on here

Re: Speeds not up to scratch

Your BQM is not showing properly. Can you go into your Firewall settings and untick “Block fragmented IP packets”

Also, are you testing speed wireless or wired?

Re: Speeds not up to scratch

I will have to try to post the BQM later on a different machine. I am working on a company-owned laptop and I do not have access to the firewall settings. I am working on a wireless connection.

Re: Speeds not up to scratch

When using wireless make sure your connected to the 5Ghz band for a faster speed as you are probably connected to 2.4Ghz.

What speed do you get on https://speedtest.samknows.com/ with direct wired connection from PC/Laptop to router using a Cat 5e cable or better with a 1Gbps capable Ethernet network card?

  1. Make sure the cable is Cat 5e or better
  2. Make sure your PC/laptop has a 1Gbps or better network card
  3. Make sure Hub is in router mode
  4. Disconnect all other Ethernet cables when running the test
