Speed often slower than before the 1Gig upgrade

I was originally getting around 360mbps on the virgin m350. Since upgrading to 1Gig, it has dropped to about 200-300 on a good day, and nowhere near the advertised up to speeds of 1Gig. I have tested the speeds over a day (including from 2am - 5am) and the speeds are just as woeful compared to what is being advertised. Though the fact it drops to lower than my previous consistent speeds is worrying. I am using the Superhub 4 as a modem. Even connecting directly to the hub yields the same speeds.

I am copying and pasting my logs and such as advised:

Re: Speed often slower than before the 1Gig upgrade

What speeds do you get at >> Sam Knows Real Speed << with a direct connection using a Cat 5E or better ethernet cable between the Hub in Router Mode and a 1Gbs capable Pc/Mac/Chromebook and no other devices connected ?

then

Can you Login to the Hub Settings and navigate to the Connected Devices page - what is the reported 'connection speed’ for the ethernet cable connected device you used for the speed test ?

Re: Speed often slower than before the 1Gig upgrade

Hey sorry for the delay in replying. When connected in router mode with no otrher devices connected I waws getting between 400-600mbps. I called Virgin and they said there was a problem, they told me they fixed. After the call I had no Internet for about an hour or two. It was only then that I hard reset the router.

My speeds after that were around the 750 mark, today thbough it'sa round 500-600 😞 . I'm just wondering if that's the best speed I will get? Ididn't see a "connection speed" option? I'm on a superhub4

Also I don't know if it's my router, but whether in router or modem mode, samknows doesn't detect the router

Re: Speed often slower than before the 1Gig upgrade

Sam Knows will not work with the Hub 4 in Modem Mode.

You must be connected directly to the Hub.

Re: Speed often slower than before the 1Gig upgrade

I also tried in router mode and it errored out. That was directly connected to the router.

Intitially Samknows said my router was offline.

However after it shows my speeds as:

DownloadMbps
1081
Speed to computer

DownloadMbps
912

UploadMbps
52.2
Latencyms
13.3

1.34

0.0
UploadMbps
52.7

16.8

1.80

Could be a dodgy cable then?

Could very well be, and it is an easy check.

Re: Speed often slower than before the 1Gig upgrade

Hi sekhujin, thanks for the message. We have checked the connection and area outages and is coming up as green. Can you confirm if you are still having issues with this and have tried a different ethernet cable? Chris
