Speed fine, but packet loss/jitter/high pings (Oversubbed?)

Hi All,

Getting great speeds but seem to be getting some packet loss and jitter, usual seems worse at peak times (wired connection, connected to hub in modem mode).

Guessing oversubbed for the area, but not 100% sure.

Re: Speed fine, but packet loss/jitter/high pings (Oversubbed?)

Your >> BQM << is a mess and in my opinion it is a problem between you and / or in the street cabinet.

Have you checked the 'Check Service Status' at the top of the page ?

If nothing is showing try phoning 0800 561 0061, this will tell you of more local issues that may be affecting the area. Be aware that it isn't a manned line.

Go round all the accessible co-ax connections and ensure that they are finger tight.

If everything above is OK you need to contact VM.

You can contact VM to report the problem using ...

Text service on 07533051809

150 from Virgin landline.

0345 454 1111 from any other UK  phone.

The best time to call is weekdays 08:00 to get a UK agent, anything after 10:00 you must realise that you are quite likely to get through to an offshore agent that doesn't speak English as a first language.

Or you can wait on here for one of the VM Staff to pick up the thread but this may take a few days.

Re: Speed fine, but packet loss/jitter/high pings (Oversubbed?)

Yup, it used to eb and flow with some days being worse than others, but recently it's been getting worse.

Connections are finger tight, had a re-pull of the cable to the property about year and half a ago, could be the short run of the internal though (got loads of spare but no connectors).

I'm happy to wait for VM on here to pick it up in a few days, last time took a while to get past 1st line when it was clear the SNR was way out.

Re: Speed fine, but packet loss/jitter/high pings (Oversubbed?)

Hi Makakar,

Thanks for your post and I'm sorry to see you've been experiencing issues with your broadband connection.

I've been able to look at the stats of your hub and everything appears to be within spec. I can also confirm that there are currently no issues showing in the local area.

How has the service been since your most recent post on Thursday? Do you have any further BQM graphs to share with us?

Kindest regards,

David_Bn
