Speed drop and intermittent packet loss

My speed has dropped from the 1gb to around 650mbps. I've done the usual re-boot of the hub, which I do once a week or so due to dropped packets creeping in.

This is on a wired connection to the hub, which also drops out periodically.=

Could somone check my line quality as something has deteriorated.

Thanks

Have you speed tested the service to the Hub : https://www.samknows.com/realspeed/

Re: Speed drop and intermittent packet loss

That's interesting! Fine to the hub, low to the pc. Yet nothing has changed internally.

I'll swap some cables around

Thank you

Re: Speed drop and intermittent packet loss

It is very handy to see if the Hub is OK as starting point.

650Mb/s is quite decent, if it has dropped recently perhaps new software or antivirus / security suites been installed recently.

It is possible to see if the computer hardware is capable of more speed by booting into Safe Mode + Networking then re-run the Realspeed test.

Re: Speed drop and intermittent packet loss

Apolgies for not responding to helpful comments earlier.

Been working through the issues and it appears to be the PC network adaptor. I've reloaded all the drivers for it and while it appears more stable, is still slow.

I'll keep plugging away

Thanks for the advice given

Re: Speed drop and intermittent packet loss

Try a speed test with the computer booted into Safe Mode + Networking

This will show what is possible for the hardware when operating in a minimal software configuration.

If there is large increase of performance it shows the computer software / antivirus suite  are at issue.
