Slow wife/broadband

Hi,

Since recently upgrading to 350 package from 200 broadband (on Saturday). I’ve had nothing but issues. I’ve been on hold and on the phone for over 3 hours in total. The last conversation, the lady simply said there is a known issue in the area (WA106AN), check back in a few hours. I did, and as expected no improvement. I did my own area check and it reported no known issues. Also hub itself is working. Coverage is excellent, all around the house. However download speeds is beyond poor. I was told by a friend to download Ookla speed test app, which I duly did. Most recent download speed test at the time of writing this post is 15.7Mbps and upload speed 13Mbps. This is probably the highest it’s reached in three days. It goes without saying, I’ve unplugged, reset, rebooted, checked all connections. Only thing I haven’t done is use a wired Ethernet cable to any device. TV is working fine. Just broadband issues. Hope someone can help.

I have to say the subject made me chuckle...

Could you access your router using http://192.168.0.1/ or http://192.168.100.1 for modem mode . You shouldn't need log in, select the 'Check Router Status' option and paste your 'Downstream', 'Upstream', and 'Network Log' tabs? Please copy/paste this data as text, split between multiple posts (Sometimes you have to click 'Post' twice due to an error message).

Could you please create a BQM (Broadband Quality Monitor) here, and post the live link?

Re: Slow wife/broadband

Thanks for the reply. Yes, slight typo there but quite fitting! 🙂

Ive tried the first http link you put on. Couldn’t find the ‘Check Router Status’. Can you advise where this is located. Can’t seem to see it on the page?

The other http link, states safari not available when trying to access.

Thanks.

It should look like this:

If not you'll need to login, using the password on the base of the HUB (NOT THE wireless key!) and select a few settings, like language, then log back out and you should see it. If not when logged in access 'Advanced settings / Tools / Network status'.

The BQM site I linked to works ok here?

Just google BQM (Should be the first result).

Re: Slow wife/broadband

Found it under the admin/tools section, thank you.

I’ve tried to copy/paste on two occasions. I keep getting the same message, check highlighted areas and won’t sent the post to you?

Ive checked through the message and can’t see any reason why this won’t post.

I will try and send it over a few posts now.

Re: Slow wife/broadband

Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you think about it, the HUB stats look 'OK'.

Please setup the BQM when you get chance as it will probably show congestion/oversubscription in your area.

All your Downstream Power Levels are individually within spec, however, the differential between the lowest at +3.4dBmV and the highest at +7.9dBmV is too great.

This will need an engineer to put right.

You can either call in (08:00 is the best time) or wait on here for a few days (6 to 7 days average) until one of the VM Forum Staff comes along.

If you wait on here Do Not bump the thread it will put it further down the VM 'to do list'.
