Slow upload speeds in Cambridge area 31

Hi,

Recently I'm finding I only get the advertised upload speed for my package intermittently. During the day the upload seems to take a big hit and is very slow. I'm on 200mb package and upload hovers around 2mb. The last speed test I ran where I actually got advertised speeds was 06/04 8:35 where it was showing 20mb upload. I'm running the tests from a hardwired PC but the result is the same via the wireless devices.

Is it contention in my area or is it my modem? I don't pretend to understand what they mean but I can share my modem stats.

I am in Cambridge and I have noticed reduced upload speeds too, though not as slow as yours.  I should be getting 20 Mbps up, but often its only half that.  Download speed is mostly okay.

Hi MrRossco, thanks for getting in touch.

 

Apologies for the problems you've experienced recently.

There are known issues in the area at the moment, the good news is "We are planning to undertake some upgrades to support the increased demand for our services in your area. When completed, any slow broadband speeds and buffering on TiVo apps you may be experiencing (particularly at peak times) will be resolved."

 

Currently we work is scheduled to be completed by 6th May - please let us know if you continue to experience further issues beyond that point and we'll go through further checks as necessary.

Let's hope these changes on the 6th actually work, because for the past few weeks the service with Virgin has been shockingly bad.
