Re: Slow speed

Hi Cco7ran

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear of the lower than expected speeds. I've ran a check and cannot see any issues on the system that could be causing this. Has the speed issue been fixed since posting? Let me know if you need further help.

Kind regards,

Re: Slow speed

No and according to neighbours and local Facebook group we are all experiencing slow speeds , so it’s not my equipment , I chose virgin because of the reliable speeds but this slow speed is unworkable and has been like this for 3 days and if I’m correct I’m entitled to cancel because your not supplying the slowest permissible speed , I’ve called helpline and told to reset router several times unplugged everything apart from my main pc and turned off WiFi still the same I know it’s not my set up if others in my area are having issues too my ping is same as normal and upload speed is ok it’s just download which currently according to Speedtest.net I’m getting 25mb instead of 550mb , if you where aware of issues due to whatever reasons , fine , it’s the fact your sticking your  head in the sand and saying there is no problem

Re: Slow speed

I am sorry to hear you're having issues still. As I say, from checking the system, no issues are showing.

Can you run a wired PC/Laptop test with just that connected via Ethernet for me, at speedtest.net and let me know the result?

Re: Slow speed

Are you wired directly to the hub and not via a powerline adaptor or switch etc?

Re: Slow speed

Does the device you're testing the speed on have a Gigabit NIC card?

To find this out, please follow the below;

  • Click Start
  • Type Device Manager into the search bar
  • Click Device Manager from the list
  • Expand Network adapters
  • If you have a Gigabit NIC it will be labeled as Gigabit.

If it is and to ensure it's configured correctly, please do the below;

  • Right click on the NIC in the Device Manager
  • Click on Properties
  • In Properties, click on the Advanced tab
  • In Advanced select Speed & Duplex and check the setting in Type
  • Setting the Type to Auto or Auto Negotiation should allow the NIC to connect at the fastest available rate
