Slow download according to SamKnows Realspeed

Hi, was wondering if someone could help.

Upgraded to 1 gig a few days ago and got a strange feeling things aren't running as fast as they should.

Why is the router speed and device speed so much different?

Im connected to 2.5G using a Belkin USB Type C to 2.5GB Ethernet Adapter.

Thanks in advance!

It’s a good point, firstly can I take it that your ‘device’ is connected via ethernet cable rather than WiFi? WiFi is just a mess and frankly can’t be relied on for accurate results, for various, boring technical reasons.

So, assuming that this is a hard-wired connection, can you try alternative speed test sites, yes they will only give the speed to yet device itself and not also to the hub, but it would be interesting to compare what various speedtest sites report.

Run each of them about five times, with a five minute gap in between and then average the results.

You need to try in safe mode with networking (Assuming a recent Windows OS) to rule out any software limitations (Anti-Virus, for example):

Speed figures of well below 100 suggest the Hub and Belkin device may have connected at 100Mb/s

Using the Hub's menus at http://192.168.0.1/   and check the link rate on the Connected Devices page of the Hub.

To get a better result a link at 1Gb/s or 2.5Gb/s would be needed.

On the Hub's Connected Devices page, next to my PC, it says Speed is 2500mbps and connected to Ethernet 4.

Think I have fixed it!!!! In Device Manager, Changed the Speed and Duplex setting to 2.5Gbps Full Duplex. ( was on auto negotiation) and appears to be working normal now.
