Slow Speeds SE London Area 21

After doing every single thing that Virgin recommend, i'm still getting absolutely awful speeds.

The service says its 'Good Service' in my area yet I'm barely running at 2mb/s when i pay for up to 200mb/s.... Also this is on Ethernet connection.

The fact that can still be shady about their service being down its actually awful and this has happened so much in the recent weeks/months.

Re: Slow Speeds SE London Area 21

Go round all the accessible co-ax connections and ensure that they are finger tight.

If everything above is OK we need do some troubleshooting; to start with …

Can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you can post the link straight away.

Post a link to your BQM on here.

Instructions for posting BQM Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and in the ‘text to display’ box write My BQM then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

Then

Can you please

Type 192.168.0.1 (192.168.100.1 in Modem mode) into your browser URL bar and press enter.

When the page appears DO NOT LOG IN but click ‘Check Router Status’.

Copy and paste the contents of the Downstream, Upstream and Network Log tabs onto here, if you get a yellow warning click the Post button again.

A Guru will be along soon to decipher the info.

Re: Slow Speeds SE London Area 21

I'm getting the same issues in the Croydon area.

Here is my BQM graph. I have unscrewed all of my coax and re-tightened. Also I have restarted the hub.

Re: Slow Speeds SE London Area 21

I am having the same issues Slow Speeds North London but in Area 15.

"After doing every single thing that Virgin recommend, i'm still getting absolutely awful speeds." The same here...

"The service says its 'Good Service' in my area yet I'm barely running at 2mb/s when i pay for up to 200mb/s...." The same here...

"The fact that can still be shady about their service being down its actually awful and this has happened so much in the recent weeks/months." The same here...

And worst : We have been paying for a year for M500 broadband package, just  to be told now that in our area (Muswell Hill- Area 15.) Virgin Media doesn’t provide this service. We were paying for the package and not receiving the full speed for that deal. Can anybody explain this? I found this totally outrageous. Plus the broadband services we are getting are appalling.  We are getting intermittent connection, connections dropping and connections cutting and slowing down.

Would like to post a screenshot for my speedtest but don't know how to do it...

Can you please stick to your own thread, jumping in and making parasitic posts makes it difficult helping the OP of the thread.
