Slow Speed with Dropped Packets

Hi All

I am currently on M500 Package and My speeds seem to vary throughout the day, sometimes I can receive 400Mbps then sometimes this drops down to 150Mbps and noticed last night that this was very slow and kept lagging while gaming.

I have done some ping testing today and seen that I have had a few dropped packets to google.

When the broadband was installed the Engineer checked the line and said a comment about the cabling as he was getting a poor signal.

I will upload the BQM Graph and also the power signal levels and hopefully one of the VM forum Assistants can pick this up and get a engineer booked, may possibly need to be re cabled from the street to the house.

Also The SH3 is currently in Modem Mode with a Netgear X4s 7800 router.

All tests have been conducted Via Lan using a CAT 6 and plugged directly into the router.

Re: Slow Speed with Dropped Packets

What speeds do you get at >>  SamKnows << with a direct connection using a Cat 5E or better ethernet cable between the Hub in Router Mode and a 1Gbs capable Pc/Mac/Chromebook and no other devices connected ?

Re: Slow Speed with Dropped Packets

Ran the speed test on a Laptop running win 10 and running Core I7 Processor with a Gigabit Lan adapter installed

Latency 20.9ms

Jitter 4.00ms

Download 188 Mbps

Upload 23.8Mbps

Ran the speed test with WiFi turned off from the Netgear router to minimise any network traffic from other devices.

The Coaxial cable is pushed in all the way and is not loose from the SH3

Re: Slow Speed with Dropped Packets

Can you test again without the Netgear in the LAN, it needs to be Hub to PC with only the cable between.

Re: Slow Speed with Dropped Packets

Your >> BQM << is showing some latency but it could be a lot worse.

Please post a 'Live Link' to your BQM on here straight away.

Instructions for posting BQM Live Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and in the ‘text to display’ box write My BQM then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

Re: Slow Speed with Dropped Packets

This test was with a Cat 6 cable.

I have done another test with a brand new Cat 6 cable and have got these results

Download 118Mbps

Upload 32.2Mbps

Also Latency seems high to reach google.co.uk
