Since the recent UK wide outage my M350 connection is only giving minimum guaranteed speed all the time.

I would be grateful if some one could have a look at the modem status logs below and give me advice.

Many thanks.

downstream is ok - a bit of noise on the line maybe but certainly not a disaster - upstream has only 2 channels that may be correct but 4 is more normal

what speeds are you getting and how are you testing - always test wired - you could try rebooting the hub and a reset if that does not help

as to a UK outage - no idea where you have got that info - no truth in it afaik

Re: Since the recent UK wide outage my M350 connection is only giving minimum guaranteed speed all the ti

Thanks Tony for your reply and looking at the data.

I always test the speed wired and do it on two different desktop machines using different browsers. The UK wide outage was reported in the media about a week ago. https://www.theguardian.com/media/2020/jun/25/uk-virgin-media-users-suffer-broadband-and-tv-outages

I have rebooted a few times, as no luck did a factory reset of the modem too. I run it in modem mode connected to a pfSense router.

I tried to attach a screen capture of the speedtest.net above but the image is not displayed in the forum post. I will try to re-attach.

Screenshot 2020-07-06 at 12.07.26.png

dslreports.com test history shows what I used to get; around 390mbps.

arrrr that UK outage - like most news sites these days the headline bears no resemblance to the story they print or the truth - there was some problems but no where near the UK outage they headlined - but again like most news sites never let the truth get in the way of a headline or story

😆

Looks like it is purely coincidental that my virginmedia speed troubles started since then! 😉

Re: Since the recent UK wide outage my M350 connection is only giving minimum guaranteed speed all the ti

I am sorry to see so many virginmedia customers having the same problem I have since I posted this a few days ago. As a quite a few point out, this seem like a throttling problem I think related to the repeated outages over the last three weeks.

It is not nice when I pay for 350 but getting 200, if I am lucky, for the last three weeks. I am not sure if I have the time to ring the customer service and hold on to the phone for hours!

Re: Since the recent UK wide outage my M350 connection is only giving minimum guaranteed speed all the ti

http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/64779568

Today's speeds as always half of what I should be getting.

Don't even think of getting an A+ for buffer bloat with the virginmedia superhub. I run it in modem mode with a pfSense router to do QoS tweaks to get an A+
