Signed up for M500 only getting about 260 wired and less wireless

Hi All.

I recently upgraded to M500 from M200 and not getting anything like the speed I'm now paying for.

Can someone please help or point me to someone who can?

Can you first test speeds directly like this. As you expect >100Mbps then connect a 1GB enabled computer/laptop, with up to date drivers, via a known good and working Cat5e (or better) ethernet cable, directly to the Hub which you have put into “modem mode” after unplugging your router and any other devices (see VM website for “How To”). Test at speedtest.net (not using their App!) to your nearest VM server - try on 2 different browsers.

If they are still low – boot the device into windows safe+networking mode and try again.

There are many posts on here where unknown/flaky software, old network card drivers, corrupted browsers, bad cables or other connected devices are limiting speeds on tests.

Report back what that gets.

Tried what you suggested, but when plugged directly into the Hub in either 1 or 4, there was no internet at all. What am I missing?

I tried to turn off and on the Hub and PC, nothing worked.

What did you plug in and did you try several cables?

In modem mode only one port is active - did you pull out any other connections you have in the other ports? If not - one of them was probably the active one

With the hub in modem mode turn off for 2mins to allow a new device.

I plugged in the cable from the PC which I know works fine into all the ports in the hub. Nothing else was plugged in. 
I’ll leave it off for two minutes and try again.

Join the club mate, VM network just cannot handle the requirements, plain and simple, and they just keep pushing for new customers or higher speed upgrades. As they say in the gaming industry, if the whales are prepared to pay, just keep milking them !

So connecting directly to the Hub3 (in modem) I do indeed get 516mb.

So I guess my Netgear R8000 Nighthawk is holding it back?

Need to upgrade my router if that’s the case, any suggestions?

I had the same Netgear R Series Router, it was nothing but trouble.

Asus AX56 is a very good router
