SW11 - Area 21 - Slow Daytime Speed

Hi,

Is forum helper who is able to see if there's congestion in SW11 (Area 21). Obviously a lot more people (including myself) are currently working from home but the connection is pretty much unusable in the day (D/L is typically 2-3Mb and upload speed is pretty close to 0). It's ok early morning/night, so i am assuming the issue is a congestion one.

As a second question, i've tried upgrading from 50Mb to 200Mb on Monday, in the faint hope this may somehow help but this hasn't been processed. How long does that usually take?

Thanks

Trent

Re: SW11 - Area 21 - Slow Daytime Speed

Have you checked the 'Check Service Status' at the top of the page ?

If nothing is showing try phoning 0800 561 0061, this will tell you of more local issues that may not be affecting the area. Be aware that it isn't a manned line.

Go round all the accessible co-ax connections and ensure that they are finger tight.

If everything above is OK we need do some troubleshooting; to start with …

Can you set up a Broadband Quality Monitor (BQM) at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you can post the link straight away.

Post a link to your BQM on here.

Instructions for posting BQM Link

Under your BQM graph are two links in red.

Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.

Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.

On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)

In the URL box paste the link you copied and then click OK - you can post the link straight away.

Then

Can you please

Type 192.168.0.1 (192.168.100.1 in Modem mode) into your browser URL bar and press enter.

When the page appears DO NOT LOG IN but click ‘Check Router Status’.

Copy and paste the contents of each tab onto here, if you get a yellow warning click Post again.

A Guru will be along soon to decipher the info.

Re: SW11 - Area 21 - Slow Daytime Speed

Hi Trent

Have you tried logging into the hub and resetting it?

To do this look at the bottom of the hub,

IP address is 192.168.0.1

Your IP settings password

You should then be into the GUI on the hub

Select Admin

Reload and reboot

Click restore default

Once the hub has reset give it another speed test hopefully that should resolve the issue for you.

Let me know how you get on.

Paul

Re: SW11 - Area 21 - Slow Daytime Speed

Hi Paul,

I have tried rebooting the hub a couple of times over the past few days but it doesn't seem to help. The speed isn't always slow, if it's early or late, i can get full speed.

Thanks

Trent

Re: SW11 - Area 21 - Slow Daytime Speed

Are you going to set up a BQM and post your Hub data on here ?

Re: SW11 - Area 21 - Slow Daytime Speed

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the response. The service status showed a problem on Monday (when it first became slow) but it then said that was resolved Monday afternoon. It doesn't seemed to have helped my issue though. The connection tightness seems ok. I am now working of my phone hotspot, so i'd need to try the BQM link on the weekend. I've logged back on though, and copied the router status below.

PS - Any idea how long the speed change to 200Mb should take?

Thanks

Trent

This is the link the the BQM. At the moment, it actually seems to be working ok.

Thanks

Re: SW11 - Area 21 - Slow Daytime Speed

Are you in Modem mode with a router or just Modem mode ?
