RCS partial service, Lost MDD Timeout, slow speed

Hello.

I'm getting very slow download speed, 10Mbps rather than usual 200Mbps (tested with fast.com, speedtest.net) using wired connection. I've done a hard reset and a few reboots and nothing's changed with my hardware / cables.

In the logs I can see this:

20/06/2020 23:08:54Warning!RCS Partial Service;CM-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CMTS-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;

20/06/2020 22:59:23Warning!RCS Partial Service;CM-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CMTS-MAC=**:**:**:**:**:**;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;

Any ideas of how to fix this please?

Cheers, Jeremy.

Power off the hub, check that all cable connections are tight from the hub to the wall socket and power the hub back on. If you still have a problem copy and paste the downstream, upstream and network log (mask any WAN IP address).

If possible, post the Downstream data before powering off.  When you power-cycle a Hub 3 that clears the error counters, and after it's restarted the few pre-RS startup errors won't tell us much.  If it's already too late, then keep and eye on them - you shouldn't have any post-RS errors on a properly working connection after a day (or even two) of continuous running.

Hello.

Thank you both for your replies. I'll do that now. Beware....lots of numbers to follow!

Here are the figures before powering off and checking the cable from wall to router:

Here are the figures after powering off, unscrewing the cables, wobbling them gently and screwing them back tight and powering on and the speed is good again:

Speedtest.net and fast.com are very good again. Thank you for the suggestion.

Cheers, Jeremy.

As your hub looks good I suspect a dodgy connection which can cause a heap of problems.

Re: RCS partial service, Lost MDD Timeout, slow speed

You've got a noisy line that is generating a lot of errors.  Eventually this causes the hub to lose synchronisation on one of more channels and you then get dropped connections, restarts and slowdowns, and that shows in the critical errors in the log and in the massive error count.  You can even see this happening in the first set of downstream data, where the hub has not managed to get a lock on channel 24, which means that channel was either coming back up, or about to go down.

A restart is a temporary fix because that gets the hub to renegotiate all 28 channels from scratch, but because it doesn't solve the underlying noise problem it is likely that the problem will recur in a matter of hours.   Unless there's an area fault, this will require a technician visit to fix, and the most civilised way of getting that is to wait for the forum staff to pick up this thread and advise on next steps, which can be a day or three.`

Re: RCS partial service, Lost MDD Timeout, slow speed

Hello Andruser.

Thank you for your message.

After unscrewing the coax at both ends and screwing it back in again I think it's all good now. The speed is back to maximum again and the errors have gone.
