Ping spikes of up to 4k every few seconds throughout the day.

I keep getting ping spikes every few seconds and its really disrupting whenever i try to play games. After checking on wifi speed test the wifi will reach somewhere like 30mbps before dropping. Sometimes it stays for a while around 0~1mbps and its just really slow. I dont think it is distance from the router as on some really good days i hit a stable 100mbps. Recently however, the ping spikes have been getting worse and, while gaming, ive hit spikes of up to 4k.

Set up a free BQM test and post a link here to the live display.

Let that run for a day. I suspect the problem is due to your WiFi but we need to rule out the Broadband connection first.

Wifi is just getting worse and worse. Now its pretty much every other second i hit 4k ping. And its like the wifi is cutting in and out now rather than just simple lag.

Look at getting a better wireless router with 1Gb ports and use the hub in modem mode.

Your BQM is now showing no connection. Have you changed the Hub's modes?

You need to connect with an ethernet cable to confirm whether this is a broadband or WiFi problem.  I suspect the latter.

I have not changed the hubs mode as i dont really know how to. Is it possible to see what the problem is without an ethernet cable?

Re: Ping spikes of up to 4k every few seconds throughout the day.

I'd say it's a 90% chance it's a WiFi problem and you'll need a better WiFi router or access point.

But if it is a Virgin problem you'll have wasted your money.   Can you temporarily move the device close to the Hub so you can connect with an ethernet cable as a test?
