Outages, Latency Issues, Packets dropped - Help?

Hi All,

So I'm back with yet again poor speeds, but also finding extremely high latency issues (I've been trying to play some Rocket League on PS4 through a ethernet/wired connection, but the lag makes it entirely unplayable) , but also having several drop-outs of a minute or so which causes devices to disconnect, and so forth.

BQM

BQM ACTIVITY

As you can see there is a significant amount of latency, but also, there is a 10-20% of dropped packets on a regular basis.

Can anyone from Virgin please advise? Is my Hub (3.0) to blame for this? or is this a wider issue? It's a real pain as I need video conferencing for work, but can't ever achieve a stable enough connection for video (I can just about make it with audio-calls on Teams) but even then I sometimes experience the drop-outs.

Thanks.

Certainly looks like local oversubscription/utilization with it settling in the early hours:

Re: Outages, Latency Issues, Packets dropped - Help?

Hi Carl, does that mean it's simply a case of having to just having to deal with it for the foreseeable future?

My download speeds are also erratic - earlier today I was managing just 2-5mbps, whereas I've just ran one now and am getting 26mbps. However, yesterday around 7pm I was getting 95mbps. I'd much rather a middle of the range speed if it mean that my connection was consistent.

Re: Outages, Latency Issues, Packets dropped - Help?

Looking at your BQM they only time you will get a consistent connection is from 02:00 to 08:0 due to the utilisation issues which to be honest are to be expected.

A good friend of the forums @Andruser has commented on the forum about similar problems to yours ...

You could always change your working regime to 23:59 to 08:00 then you will have all day to get the housework done 😁

Re: Outages, Latency Issues, Packets dropped - Help?

So apparently I've had 100% dropped packets from 6pm on Friday 21st January all the way through Saturday 22nd January (I'm writing this at 23:40)...  does this mean anything? I'm still on the internet, and function seems okay (still getting minor drop-outs/or notification of poor signal on video calls) so wondering if there is something potentially wrong with the router?
